Women supporting each other is powerful! I decided to write this blog because of an incident that happened the other day, it had me saying, is she for REAL! WOW!
So, this is what happened. I share my post to followers in their DM on Instagram or private message on TIKTOK from time to time. I want to share the uplifting message, quote and or affirmation as well as maybe the outfit of the day and the cool creativity the video may provide. Sounds cool right, no big deal. A person can either view or ignore no harm or foul. Well, this particular person on TIKTOK says, "Make sure you are sitting down for this one". Ready? She says: With all due respect, I am a woman. I do not comment on another woman. She was respectful. Now mind you, My videos are uplifting videos. My caption said: Do you use Affirmations? My video doesn't look like it is inappropriate. I was baffled.
Let's chat about Why a woman wouldn't want to compliment or uplift another woman! Maybe it makes her feel uncomfortable, because it will make her seem like she has a personal sexual interest in this woman. Perhaps, when she was growing up their were some "Mean Girls", We all know about the Mean Girls, we may have even been in that group. 🤔 What about Jealousy? Do you think, she acts like she is better than everyone else, and you wouldn't dare compliment her. Are other women the competition? What reasons can you come up with?
Whatever the reasons, We must get better. We have the Womens History Month, which is celebration of women's contributions to history, culture and society. Women's History Month is a dedicated month to reflect on often-overlooked contributions of women to the United States history. Do you have some favorite women singers or actresses? It is easy to say, WOW her voice is amazing or she is a fabulous actress. Do you watch Beauty pageants? Do you pick who you think might win? How are you choosing the possible winner? Her talents, Her outfits and how she wears them or maybe her beauty.
How can we get better at supporting the woman close to us? Women have been trained through society and generational behaviors to feel jealous when other women have success. Celebrating other women's successes, large and small, is one of the easiest ways to break those societal expectations of jealously and competition. Other women's successes actually makes us STRONGER, not weaker! When other women succeed, they are paving the way for us to succeed and to feel good about ourselves as well!
Let's FOCUS on education for the girls and young women to support other women. Women's empowerment should always start with our daughters. Model body positivity. Model empowerment and Female confidence! Model strength and kindness.
Be a woman who lifts other women up! Lifting others up could mean listening, giving compliments, or a verbal show of support. But really, even just a quick text message to let a friend know you're thinking about them or stopping to comment another woman's social media post can help to
brighten their day.
My page is about making a difference. Helping uplift and inspire others. Everyday we have an opportunity to Choose. I choose to let others know, they can WIN the day! They are AMAZING and They MATTER!
